Nestled in the olive groves of Salento, Masseria Kalliope is just 15 minutes’ drive from the beautiful Adriatic coast.

There’s a saying in local dialect that sums up Salento; la terra du lu sule, lu mare e lu ientu – the land of sun, sea and wind. It has a rare natural beauty unlike anywhere else in Italy.

With six bedrooms - three with sitting/dressing rooms - all with ensuite bathrooms, the masseria sleeps up to 12 adults. The two larger suites have sofa beds suitable for families.

Masseria Kalliope provides the perfect location to relax, explore Salento, and enjoy la dolce vita in a peaceful rural setting.

The property lies between Carpignano Salentino and Borgagne, two small towns that offer bars, cafés, and local shops. The historic port of Otranto, with a wealth of restaurants and historic sites, is just a short drive away, and Lecce, ‘the Florence of the south’ is 30 minutes by car. 

The masseria dates back to the 14th century and has been recently restored with care for the environment to minimise its carbon footprint, and respect for the building’s rich heritage.

Masseria Kalliope is made up of three separate buildings: the main house with its traditional vaulted ceilings, typical of the region, combines stylish contemporary living with indoor dining space, and a fully-equipped kitchen.  

The large sofas are comfortable and inviting, and there is no shortage of modern comforts with a 48” flat-screen TV, wi-fi, audio speaker and air-con throughout.

Light floods in from the tall arched windows that open onto a beautifully-tended private garden courtyard. Shaded by a pretty pepper tree, it’s an ideal spot to read and unwind.

Just across from the terrace you’ll find the main bedroom suite with its own private sitting/dressing room, and ensuite bathroom with bath and shower. 

There are a further five bedrooms at the masseria backing onto the pool, all ensuite, and two with private sitting/dressing rooms.

Each bedroom is furnished with a nod to style and tradition, using local materials and luxurious bedding. Each has its own ensuite bathroom with traditional Puglian tiles, and air-conditioning. 

There are beautifully tended gardens with pomegranate, fig, apricot and olive trees. There are also outside barbecue and bar areas, an outdoor pizza oven, and table tennis and baby football for your enjoyment.

The large 15x5m swimming pool provides the perfect place to cool off – plus the poolside area features a pergola and gazebo to provide some welcome shade.
